Addict clothing + Addict jacket = True British StreetwearAddict clothing was started by two guys back in 1996. One spotted the other wearing a Stussy tee in a pub and got chatting to the like minded. Over the following months they worked on 20 t-shirt designs all on white except for the ones they dyed in a washing machine at home. Addict clothing was born! In the time from then till now Addict has grown from a small idea to a fully fledge street fashion label with worldwide distribution.Still based in Southampton, UK, Addict represents some of best home grown designed products. They also sponsor all the right people from skaters, snowboarders to musicians.

“Addict, one of the longest standing true British streetwear labels produces the goods again with the launch of its Spring Summer 2007 product line. The range is mature and varied with the emphasis firmly on minimal branding, maximum content and solid build quality without losing sight of the current market needs for strong price points.

Spearheading the line is the second instalment of all over prints from London based artist She One, She Camo II blends elements of his original AW04 pattern into a 4 colour camouflage pattern available in 3 strong colourways. Mens and womens lightweight technical taped seamed shells and more basic anorak styles all feature the pattern which looks set to impact heavily on next summers streets.”

Monday, June 12th, 2006

Rag & Bone Jeans + Rag & Bone Apparel = Edgy Workwear!Rag & Bone Apparel is attracting well-deserved attention of late. The designs are highly original and the whole feel of the Collection is clean and edgy. Rag & Bone was born in 2001 through the shared frustrations of not being able to find the type of clothing the founders wanted to wear. They felt that there were also some very fundamental pieces missing from the process behind the product, namely the methods of manufacturing and the fabrics being used.

Initially they were drawn to denim and jeans because thay held so many of the values they felt relevant to Rag & Bone. They believe that jeans represent history, authenticity and fundamentals. Rag & Bone wanted to fuse these elements with all the clothing they set out to design and to produce collections that reflected the same qualities that they saw in classic work wear. We all missed the Rag & Bone man — at last he’s back!

After working with Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent and then for Dior Homme, be began to show his original creations in January 2005. Today the man heads his own label: Kris Van Assche.”

Now that’s great and the fact is Kris Van Assche is a terrific designer but why is the following nonsense added to his bio:

“Impelled by the vision of a man who takes the time to “dress up”, Kris Van Assche has embarked on an aesthetic quest, persuing a new masculinity infused with poetry and authenticity.”

What is this new masculinity? Is it the metrosexual masculinity so common today among a certain breed of pussified men or is it something else? Whatever it is, Kris Van Assche would be far better off letting his clothing do the talking!

Ella Moss Clothing + Ella Moss Fashion = Hip-Couture!

Friday, June 9th, 2006

Ella Moss Clothing + Ella Moss Fashion = Hip-Couture!Designer Pamella Protzel is an LA girl at heart, and her hip, fun and quirky Ella Moss collection reflects that. From daily after-school trips to Beverly Hills as a middle schooler to Parisian flea market excursions as a teen, Protzel has always been inspired by art, fashion, people and traveling. A true style prodigy, at 27, Protzel has already established Ella Moss as one of the hottest, fastest-growing collections within the contemporary arena.

During college, Protzel’s stylist friends raided her closet for her handmade T-shirts and prized vintage pieces to take on photo shoots. It was then that she realized fashion was her true calling. Transferring from Pasadena’s Art Center as a graphic design student, Protzel arrived at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles without knowing how to make a pattern. As a gifted artist, she started drawing the silhouettes and loved learning how make her designs come to fruition.

Rather than use a scientific approach to fashion design, Protzel relies on her discerning eye and intuition, working with her hands, cutting up T-shirts and experimenting with different dyes and fabrications for each piece. When designing the green striped cotton dress Sarah Jessica Parker wore on Sex and The City, Protzel describes the process as more instinctual than calculated. “People ask what my inspiration was for the striped dress group, but I wasn’t actually thinking about specific eras or trends,” says Protzel. “I just wanted to create a flowy, feminine dress that had the comfort level a T-shirt. For me, the design process is more organic.”

Although the line has attracted celebrity fans like Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Kirsten Dunst and Liv Tyler, Protzel doesn’t have plans to create Red Carpet gowns any time soon. Radiating effortless style, Ella Moss is casual, comfortable and fashionable, and each piece can always work back to jeans and flip-flops.

Known for bright color palettes, simple shapes, soft, wearable cottons and tonal stripes, Ella Moss strikes a delicate balance of being edgy and vintage, without being over-the-top trendy. Recently featured on The Today Show, the collection is coveted by everyone from young, downtown trendsetters to hip mothers.

The collection revolves around two main themes built upon iconic items of clothing. Chinos, with their perfect balance of casual and formal, are there to ignite that truly American vibe. Wrangler Jeans + Wrangler Denim Pants = Mainstream Revival!1904 C.C. Hudson founds his C.C. Hudson Overall Company. 1919 The company is renamed to „Blue Bell Company“. 1947 C.C. 50’s Americana, early science fiction and its strong belief in the future are the creative sources of “Space Odyssey”. The feeling of “everything is possible” inspires new styles and finishes. “Inca Trail” takes its inspiration from the early south American civilization. This nature-related collection mainly uses organic materials and coloration. Tribal details of the Inca culture appear in embroideries and flock prints. With “Diamonds and Dirt” Wrangler offers additional styles for chicks that rock and reflects the glamorous and dirty life on the road.

Men’s fits vary from slim/straight to baggy, featuring an update of styles like Sharkey and Floyd. The most striking feature in women’s jeans is the rope ‘W’ stitched over both back pockets. Throughout the women’s jeans collection the backpatch is also replaced by a stitched equivalent. Introduced in 2005 Wrangler B.Y is still too new to have a history of its own but clearly aware of its roots in Wrangler’s jeans experience. Striped fabric and the brand related colors Yellow and Electric Blue are just examples of the strong and vivid B.Y DNA. With its small but strong collection of jeans and tops Wrangler B.Y heads into the future of jeans and lifestyle.

Creative Recreation Shoes x Cr8tive Recreation Sneakers

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

Creative Recreation Shoes x Cr8tive Recreation SneakersCreative Recreation Shoes are attracting well-deserved attention. Their designs are fresh and creative and have an urban chic vibe. Worth a good long butchers for sure!

Realizing that this generation was not going to follow in the same footsteps as the one before them Creative Recreation began their own journey. Being successful in this generation did not require wearing a suit and tie rather it was just the opposite. This generation is in more control or their destiny and their careers. This genre has become known for its entrepreneurial drive. Along with this came freedoms of fashion in the work place and in other social setting.

With these inspirations behind them Creative Recreation set out to fill this void. The two founders simply set out to design shoes that they wanted to wear. By sampling the best aspects from other footwear categories they have incorporated the comfort of an athletic sneaker combined with the materialization of a dress shoe to create the ultimate crossbreed.

Many people have difficulties understanding what category Creative Recreation footwear falls into. That has been the best compliment to the founders. “We don’t want to be put into any category, were a footwear company! We make shoes for our lifestyle, rather we make shoes for life with style”.
