Crystal Renn Says She Was Photoshopped?

Crystal Renn Says She Was Photoshopped Thinner in Her Fashion for Passion T-Shirt Shoot

Crystal Renn was very disturbed when her weight yet again became a topic of discussion as online commenters wondered if she was again falling victim to an eating disorder after images of her looking thinner in the Fashion for Passion charity tee surfaced. Renn, who has been anorexic, told Glamour she gasped when she saw the pictures:

Well, I was shocked. When I saw the pictures, I think I was silent for a good five minutes, staring with my mouth open. I don’t know what was done to those photos or who did it, but they look retouched to me. And listen, everybody retouches, but don’t make me into something I’m not. [Reached for comment, photographer Nicholas Routzen explained that Crystal looks the way she does because the photos were “…taken from a higher angle with a wider lens.” But he also added, “I shaped her…I did nothing that I wouldn’t do to anyone. I’m paid to make women look beautiful.”]

In a video of the shoot sent to Glamour by Renn’s agent (we used that video to put together a before and after Photoshop image here), Renn looks more voluptuous than she does in the pictures that ran on Ford’s blog. Renn continues:

…well, that body doesn’t look like my body. It doesn’t. Having had an eating disorder, I know what that very thin body looks like on me, and it’s not something I find attractive. It’s not something I aspire to.

I feel completely confident in my own health because I know I don’t look like that, but even to see it in an image was really disturbing to me.

Hopefully this will finally silent the chatter about whether or not she’s losing weight.

– fashion show and live music in Berlin’s Rodeo Ressort

+++ What a night! During Bread & Butter in Berlin, MUSTANG invited guests to an exciting Denim Nite in Berlin’s brand new club Rodeo Ressort. +++ The authentic denim lifestyle brand partied with invited guests from the fashion world plus celebrities into the early hours of the morning.

+++ Then the laid-back beach atmosphere was suddenly transformed into a stylish runway. In a contemporary urban setting and accompanied by jumping beats, 15 models presented the key sexy yet tough looks of MUSTANG’s 2011 spring/summer collection. +++ Denim in a variety of styles and forms was definitely a clear favorite with spectators. +++ Marco Arena, ranked among the world’s top 15 stylists, was responsible for hair and make-up.

+++ Party, music, groove! Live entertainment was provided by Kakkmaddafakka. The Norwegian indie ska sensation put on a lively, high-energy performance before handing over to resident DJs for the after-show party.

+++ Rubbing shoulders with representatives from large fashion retailers were Karolin Peiter, Milka Fernandes, Manuel Cortez, Berlin’s celebratory tenor Tobey Wilson, Sat.1 presenters Annika Kipp and Karen Heinrichs and No Angels member Lucy.

G-Star Raw new model Magnus Carlsen

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

G-Star Raw new model Magnus Carlsen

Chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen turns to modelling

Norway’s public broadcaster NRK has posted snapshots and a video on its website of the teenager at a fashion shoot for Dutch fashion brand G-Star Raw alongside US actress Liv Tyler.

Black-and-white ads featuring the 19-year-old prodigy and stamped with the brand’s name and logo were also posted on the broadcaster’s website.

Mr Carlsen burst onto the chess scene in 2004 when, at the age of 13, he beat former world champion Anatoli Karpov, pushed legendary chess champion Garry Kasparov to a draw and became a chess grandmaster.

He told NRK he was not a fashion connoisseur but was enjoying the experience.

“I think people will be surprised to see me like this. Surely just as surprise as I was when I was picked for this,” he said.

Mr Carlsen stunned the chess universe by becoming the youngest player to ever top the world rankings earlier this year, only a month after his 19th birthday.

Mr Kasparov, who has coached Carlsen since 2009, was 20 years and nine months old when he made it to that milestone.

“Before he is done, Carlsen will have changed our ancient game considerably,” Mr Kasparov told Time magazine in January.

Jon Kortajarena in V Magazine

photographer Xevi Muntané shoots for V Magazine. Models featured in the issue include, Jon Kortajarena, Andres Velencoso Segura, Oriol Elcacho, Quim Gutierrez and Antonio Navas.

Kortajarena was discovered during Fashion Week, when he met a friend attending a show. Eduardo Sayas, now his current booker, noticed him and persuaded him to try the fashion world and suggested he go to Barcelona to meet some customers. Being a minor then, Jon had to convince his parents to let him travel to Paris. So he left Bilbao, his hometown, and started stepping into fashion in the French capital. Kortajarena made his debut in 2004 at the fall Emporio Armani and John Galliano shows in Milan and Paris. In the same year, he became the face of Roberto Cavalli’s campaign Just Cavalli shot by Ellen Von Unwerth for the spring collection that quickly jet started his career. His runway credentials include walking for Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani, John Galliano, and Chanel in Milan and Paris. In 2007, Kortajarena signed with GUESS? and renewed his contract again in 2008. With new campaigns on the stands at once Terry Richardson photographs Kortajarena for Tom Ford alongside Noah Mills. In the same year he was featured on the cover of the spring/summer issue of L’Officiel Hommes magazine devoting 200 pages to the Bilbao native making 2008 his busiest year. In 2009, Kortajarena appeared in Tom Ford’s feature film directorial debut, A Single Man.

Irina Shayk, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Girlfriend

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Irina Shayk, Cristiano Ronaldo’s GirlfriendIrina Shayk, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Girlfriend

Irina Shayk is the 24-year-old Russian model girlfriend of soccer superstar and Armani face Cristiano Ronaldo. She is not the woman who just had his baby (that was a surrogate), but you probably could have guessed that from these behind-the-scenes images of her shoot for swim label Luli Fama that don’t appear to have been retouched. David Tessieri shot the campaign last week in Miami.

Armani face Cristiano Ronaldo

So what do you think of the ads? Is she on her way to becoming a Victoria’s Secret–worthy bra-and-string-bikini model? Or will this be like that time George Clooney’s ex Sarah Larson got a couple of modeling gigs and then disappeared after they broke up?

Sugar Cane Jeans – Official Detergent for Denim

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Sugar Cane Jeans - Official Detergent for Denim

Sugar Cane vintage wash & Premium care enzyme detergent for Denim. Carton with 10 sachets of Vintage wash & Premium Care.

Prepare cold water or luke-warm water more than 30L, in an adequately large container (best not over 20 degrees Celsius), DO NOT WASH IN HOT WATER. By washing in hot water, the indigo blue dye will lose its natural shade. Mix the detergent with water. If you are worried about excessive indigo loss (usually not a problem with Japanese makes), then add a table spoon of salt to help the indigo hold fast (please no sea water, you don’t know what’s in there…). Add jeans & let it sit in the water for ~20 minutes. After about 2 minutes in the water, the enzymes in the ‘vintage wash’ is already starting to take effect – will notice the water becoming murky.Hand wash the jeans. Rinse your jean with cold water and ensure all the detergent is washed away.

Add the Sugar Cane ‘premium care’solution to water and soak the jeans in it for 15 minutes, then proceed to drying (do not rinse out the treatment solution).

Dry your jeans in the shade and NOT direct sunlight to avoid fading in the sun.

Russian stunner Natalia Vodianova sparkled in her pale pink ruffle frock and perfect demeanour. Street Style extraordinaire Craig Arend caught her before she slipped into the Valentino couture show in Paris.

Vodianova is a founder and the president of the Naked Heart Foundation, a philanthropic organisation that strives to provide a safe and inspiring environment in which to play for every child living in urban Russia. She was inspired to found the charity after visiting Russia with her son Lucas and finding there were no suitable places for children to play. The organisation built its first play park in 2006 in Nizhny Novgorod. It has since built nearly 38 more.

In 2010, Vodianova became an ambassador for Hear the World, a global campaign that seeks to raise awareness of the topic of hearing and hearing loss and to promote good hearing all over the world.

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Zoe Saldana Is the New Face of Calvin Klein Underwear

After hiring the curvy (well, according to the fashion industry) Lara Stone for its collection, denim, and beauty campaigns, Calvin Klein has hired actress Zoe Saldana to front its new underwear campaigns. Saldana’s bosom replaces that of Eva Mendes, the last face of Calvin Klein Underwear. Saldana is certainly gorgeous, but hardly known for her curves.

Zoe Saldana (born June 19, 1978; also known as Zoë Saldana, Zoe Saldaña, and Zoë Saldaña) is an American actress. She had her breakthrough role in the 2002 film Drumline, and later gained prominence for her roles as Anamaria in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Uhura in the 2009 film Star Trek, and Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar. In 2010 she appeared in the film The Losers.

Dirk Bikkembergs Pens “Football is Fashion

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Dirk Bikkembergs Pens “Football is Fashion”

For some time now, designer Dirk Bikkembergs has iterated on the catwalk that “football is fashion”. This time, he has finally put it on paper with the publication of his new book, which unsurprisingly is entitled “Football is Fashion”.

It all began in June 2001 when Dirk Bikkembergs hosted a fashion show at San Siro football stadium in Milano, Italy. This location was a clear statement of the direction of the Dirk Bikkembergs brand: high fashion tailored to the athlete’s lifestyle.

Since the San Siro show, Dirk Bikkembergs has delved further into sport to perfect his vision. Football players, like Fabrizio Ravanelli, were called in to be the models for fashion shows and advertising, whilst the brand dressed leading football teams, such as Inter Milan, Toronto FC and the Slovenian national team for their official off-the-pitch appearances.

The brand also sponsored, and later acquired, a football team in the Italian amateur league, which is today known as F.C. Bikkembergs Fossombrone.

In the continuous pursuit of perfecting the merger of fashion and football, in 2009, Dirk Bikkembergs opened a grand flagship store in Milano at Via Manzoni 47. The concept store is based on a fully furnished luxury apartment tailored to the athlete’s lifestyle. This concept is stressed by the football player who lives in the store.

In all the expressions of the brand since the San Siro show, one thing stands out time and again: Dirk’s visionary and outspoken visual language, which reaches far beyond pure fashion design. It is a strong visual identity, which continues to be expressed in every aspect of the brand, from its collections to its architecture and advertising.

Continuously perfecting the merger of fashion and football, publishing the book, “Football is Fashion” is a logical next step to take.

Showcasing the versatility of the Dirk Bikkembergs brand as it confronts the exclusivity of fashion with the universe of sport, the book is available in two formats: the large-format version in a special edition box (target price: € 149.90), as well as is a small public version (target price: € 34.90).

The book, which is set to be released in October 2010, will be published by in English, with language inserts for the Italian, Dutch, French, Spanish, German and Russian markets.

Stone Island Autumn 2010

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Stone Island Autumn 2010

Using elements from sports and military environments, Stone Island created new angles for “hybrids” that highlights functionality and utility to fit the needs of contemporary gentlemen.

References to British-style outdoor wear can be found in the collection. Iconic garments have been reworked and brought up to date in terms of style and choice of colour to satisfy new everyday needs.

Research and technology applied to material. Treatments, experimentation, finishes and dyeing techniques have created new colour codes, while respecting the garments’ performance.

Liquid Reflective Jacket

The language of safety work garments inspired the Reflective Jacket in ‘991.
Now a reflective coating made up of thousands of micro glass balls has been hand sprayed onto the finished garments, creating an uneven liquid effect on the surface.

Thermo-sensitive Garments

The Ice Jacket was launched for the first time in ‘989. A liquid crystal coating causes a chromatic change in relation to changes in temperature from hot to cold and vice versa.

Ice Jacket Camouflage_ in light cotton with a camouflage print: when exposed to low temperatures it becomes solid dark grey.

Waxed Ice_ the version in waxed cotton with a detachable felt “helmet” changes from silver blue, beige or army green to a darker shade.

Quilted garments

In rubberized cotton muslin bonded to a transparent polyurethane film that makes them water resistant.

Down garments

Parkas, vests, bomber jackets and reversible jackets in ultra-light nylon and waxed leather are light as a feather and padded with goose down.

Welded Down Jacket

Rip stop fabric bonded to a performance membrane with heat-sealed seams. The down padded sections are electro-sealed to ensure maximum waterproofing: the result of Stone Island technology.

Miharayasuhiro Autumn 2010 Campaign

Linus Gustin by Paolo Roversi for Miharayasuhiro Fall 2010 Campaign.

Mihara started out designing his own shoe line, as a student at Tama Art University and opened his first Miharayasuhiro shop in Tokyo 1998. His clothes are very individual and experimental and has a futuristic touch to them and of course, they’re also very Japanese! This is THE brand for anyone looking for extraordinary design but also craves the perfectionism of a commended designer.

Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova for Vuitton

Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova for Vuitton

Typically, Marc Jacobs gives his collections for Louis Vuitton a different spin in advertising versus the runway. For the forthcoming fall campaign, slated to break in a wide range of August titles, Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova are shown preening in front of old-fashioned makeup mirrors backstage, as if they were ready to take a stroll around the fountain of the Louvre’s Cour Carré, the setting for Vuitton’s show during Paris Fashion Week in March. Ditto for the multigenerational casting — one model in her 20s, one her 30s, one her 40s — adding up to one of the most sophisticated Vuitton fashion campaigns to date, according to Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications.

“The atmosphere was very Fifties, very elegant,” he related. This is the fourth Vuitton campaign shot by Steven Meisel, who constructed the period set in a New York studio.

Arnault described the media spend as “flat” and said it would remain print driven, running in tandem with the company’s “Core Values” campaign. The latest one, depicting Pelé, Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane playing foosball in a Madrid cafe, will continue to run through the World Cup tournament and into the fall. In light of the disgraced French team, Arnault expressed relief that Vuitton did not opt to cast today’s soccer stars. “We made the right choice to work with legends and not spoiled brats,” he said. via WWD
