Bone People Brand Jeans takes denim in a refreshing direction with fierce attention to details: rich embroidery, fashion-forward seams, and vintage washes that resonate with authentic character. Bone People Brand Jeans reincarnates Grateful Dead era icons like silk-screened skulls, cross bones, snakes & roses and mixes them with today’s bold tattoo and graffiti art to bring together a killer amalgamation of hippie and street-smart punk.

Originally from Burma, designer Topaz Kalmon, came to San Francisco in the early 70s and landed a coveted design position with Levi Strauss & Company. She was later recruited by Britannia and LA Gear before joining Blue Cult. While Topaz was living on the east coast, she developed a fascination with New York’s talented graffiti artists. She would stand mesmerized on the street watching them create elaborate murals in rich colors and detail. She was inspired by their symbols which were largely skulls, cross bones and roses.

Topaz wanted to use those same graphics to recapture the free-spirited, self expression of the Woodstock generation in an accessible new line of sexy clothing for men, women and kids. “Woodstock pervaded cultures worldwide and became the backbone of today’s music: rock and roll, hip hop, reggae, and rap,” she says. “It was a time when people embraced individuality and acceptance.”

Bone People transcends age, race and gender with emblems that remind us we’re all human. Underneath our different sizes and shapes, our difference in skin color, are bones. We share the same foundation. “I am you and you are me,” says Topaz. “Live and let live.”

The line features boot-cut flairs specially fit to make the wearer appear taller, slimmer and more toned throughout the thighs; straight-legged jeans with embroidered back pockets, and detailing down the leg; tanks, polos, short sleeve and v-neck Ts, as well as blazers. And Bone People has developed an oxidation process that gently ages each piece to appear like it’s been sitting in a well traveled trunk since the 60s.
