Dr Denim Selvage Section:
JEANS HISTORY... in ancient times, 29" shuttle looms were used to weave denim. In order to make use of the full width of the fabric, the selvage was included in production. The different brands working with Cone Mills each had their own selvage colour in order to keep track of what batches of fabric belonged to whom. Raw selvage denim should ideally be worn for a long time before the first wash. The result of wear n' tear becomes something authentic, and that's how a good pair of jeans becomes a member of the family. Selvage denim is one of the closest links to old skool denim traditions that remains to date. Selvage denim; a homage to more than 100 years of evolutionary denim- and fashion history.
Dr Denim Jeansmakers, Gothenburg; Sweden, was launched in August 2004, in Copenhagen. It's a new vintage concept. The product as a whole as well as the individual details, are linked to denim history. The characteristic 15.5 oz. orange selvage denim became the foundation of this new vintage concept. The product is treated like a member of the family.
Among the fabrics without selvage, a range of slub, crossfire, flat finish and stretch compositions are offered - each quality with its own unique appeal. All fabrics are sanforized.
