Claudio Grotto, founder and President, is a young entrepreneur. He built his first textile lab at 21 and firmly placed the characteristics of excitement, curiosity, energy, compassion and simplicity at the base of the Manufacturing Group. Managing a “family-owned store” during the 60’s gives Claudio Grotto the opportunity to see the entire business process, from purchases to final sale, at a very young age. Over the last decade he has led the vertically-integrated Manufacturing Group, from raw materials to the retail store, under a single brand: GAS. The GAS “double Rainbow” logo sums up the real-life experiences and work ethic of Claudio Grotto, from its origins until today.

Grotto S.p.A., situated in north-eastern Italy, is the manufacturer and distributor of the GAS brand since the early 70s. "Keep it simple", the GAS brand’s motto, sums up its mission: positive thinking, functionality, quality and "no waste". A particular attention is paid to young people who want to wear clothes that reflect their own personalities. Over 6 million clothing items per year are distributed via a widespread sales network of 3500 retail points located in 56 different countries of the world.


S/S ‘06 collection inspiration is today’s youths’ desire to mix-and-match styles blending the old with the new, ethnic with urban. Preview graphics are inspired by the D-Generation (Digital Generation), recalling today’s youths' relationship with music: iPods, MP3s and downloads off the internet... It’s a real Re-evolution of music and sound. The Summer influences are a fusion between ETHIC and ETHNIC. Custom-made embellishments of fashion items find inspiration from African symbols, Berber tattoos, Portuguese azulejos and, in general, “memories from travels”. Uniform and safari jackets are proposed in an innovative way. GAS youths are revolutionary colonisers, setting off on voyages to acquire cultural enrichment, emotions and experience.


Seven shots, each of them showing a mix of two cities. From Hong Kong to Amsterdam, from Tokyo to Paris the simple statement “The World is Always Awake” acts as inspiration for people not to use time as an excuse: if you want to do something, it is always the right time to do it! Whether you are dancing at a party or busy at work, even when you are pushing the limits, if you wear GAS you will never be inappropriate.
