Gwen Stefani took the center stage at New York Fashion Week 2005...

The spring 2006 collection from Stefani's clothing line, L.A.M.B., made its debut on the runway of the Fashionweek in the Big Apple.

For Stefani, music and fashion are just a natural part of her. She tells the Associated Press, "Music and fashion, it all comes from the same place of creativity. I don't see why any musician who has style or pays attention to style couldn't do it (fashion)."

The "Cool" singer adds, "It's an extension of my personality. I can't explain why I like it, it's just always been that way for me - like pizza.''

 

L.A.M.B. is an acronym for Love, Angel, Music, Baby.

Pop icon, Gwen Stefani, says she's not jumping on the celebrity fashion designer bandwagon for a quick ride. (Others planning collections in the coming months are Beyonce, Jessica Simpson and possibly even Justin Timberlake).

Gwen Stefani does have some real fashion credibility. On the red carpet, she's considered a trendsetter. Her style is a mix of brash and sexy. Fashion editors seem to believe in her; Stefani and her designs have appeared in W, Marie Claire, Elle, Lucky and InStyle. And, more importantly, retailers are fans of the No Doubt frontwoman. The flagship Bloomingdale's store in Manhattan is featuring L.A.M.B. in its windows too. The L.A.M.B. Collection includes Tops, Pants Shirts and Shoes.

Stefani gets pissed by any suggestion she's just another celebrity figurehead on the fashion bandwagon..

"I feel very defensive about that question today," Stefani says. "I'm very, very hands-on. I sewed the rhinestones on the wedding dress today. It's my passion, and every bit of the collection starts here."

Not even husband Gavin Rossdale has seen the latest iteration of L.A.M.B., which is sold online and in stores including Nordstrom. "He hasn't been allowed to come to the showroom because I wanted it to be a surprise."

The collection's look is "a little bit The Sound of Music. A little bit of Orange County. A little bit of the Rastafarian rasta girls. A little bit English Great Gatsby garden party girls," Stefani says. "Pretty much the same thing I always do, but different versions of it."
