In 1983 Franco Moschino founded his first company called Moonshadow and launched Moschino Couture. 1986 the first Moschino menswear collection was launched and in 1988 the Cheap and Chic range is introduced.

The Style of Moschino

Moschino provided a fresh and new approach to the fashion world. It played down the high glamour and sophistication of fellow designers and made fun of their high prices. Moschino was known to be zany, iconoclastic and always ready to shock with an outrageous idea, but his clothes were wearable and cut to the highest standards. He was an expert tailor and liked to make visual puns. He once created a dinner suit with a knife and fork appliqued on the bodice, his blazers had windmills for buttons, and his polka dot Minnie Mouse dresses were also very popular.
