Moschino Top Section:
If anyone was in on the joke, it was Franco Moschino. The late designer’s whimsical style and humor were readily evident in his collections, which predated Kenneth Cole’s wordplay with messages like “Ready to Where?” and “Too Haute to Handle.” Then there were the blazers bearing faucet handles and plastic windmill buttons, dinner suits that came stitched with forks and knives, and hats made from teddy bears. Since Moschino’s death in 1994 at the age of 44, the company he founded has tried to honor his unique legacy.
In 1983 Franco Moschino founded his first company called Moonshadow and launched Moschino Couture. 1986 the first Moschino menswear collection was launched and in 1988 the Cheap and Chic range is introduced.
