Sergio Tacchini Sportswear

Sergio Tacchini Sportswear - Sergio Tacchini Sports Apparel

Sergio Tacchini Sports Apparel Section:

The year was 1966. After a brilliant tennis career Sergio Tacchini decides to conquer the sportwear market with an original and innovative idea. Create the first colored tenniswear collection, breaking with the completely white tradition. A winning idea just like that of tying in his name and image with the most famous names in world tennis. Jan Kodes, Jimmy Connors, Roscoe Tanner, Vitas Gerulatis and Ilie Nastase were only the first in a long line of illustrious testimonials that helped bring the Sergio Tacchini brand to the top of tennis across the globe. In 1978, the entry of John McEnroe on the team confirmed the winning mark of the Sergio Tacchini brand.

2006 will be a truly special year for the Company founded by Sergio Tacchini in 1966 which this year reaches its 40th Birthday. To celebrate the event in its true Italian spirit and with a proud look at its past, the three Sergio Tacchini Heritage Collections, recalling and re-evoking the Group’s historical roots, have been expanded: two exclusive lines for women and new collaboration with designers from all over the world.

COLLECTION
AUTHENTICS In the Authentics collection, “evergreen” Sergio Tacchini articles from the seventies and eighties are back again with sweats and polo shirts that are the exact copy of those worn by testimonials from that period - from McEnroe to Wilander - applauded on the tennis courts of the most prestigious tournaments during unforgettable matches. Clear sharp blocks of colour outlined by the typical two Sergio Tacchini stripes have characterised the Company’s style for forty years. MANIA For several seasons now Sergio Tacchini style has been characterised by irony, the pleasure of experimenting and reinterpreting the Authentics articles and “traditions” in an evolved key. This is developed in the Mania collection, where three different lines represent emphasis on continual research and analysis of market trends: Mania Cool, Mania Remix, Mania Special. COLLABORATION Prestigious collaboration continues with some of the world’s most important labels. Special attention is reserved for Great Britain, cradle of the most innovative market trends. Cooperation with the famous English label Burro therefore continues into 2006 and the Spring/Summer collection is enriched with a fresh surprising line for women. Still in London, collaboration has started up with Question Air, universally considered to be a cult benchmark for trend setters all over the world.

Heterophobia ? addressing a controversial mannequin
Does the dominance of gay fashion designers suggest an endemic heterophobic propensity by the fashion illuminati which is manifest in its most insidious form by the pervasive tendency to corrupt the female body image by persisting with anorexic “de-feminised” models as a paradigm of perfection ultimately undermining the male/female synergy? … or perhaps the fashion [...]

Fashion personas a dated phenomenon?
Are fashion personas a dated phenomenon, Girogio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Yohji Yamamoto and so on… ?
