Siwy Jeans

Siwy Jeans Apparel Denim Shorts Capris

Siwy Apparel Section:

Siwy is a label that was launched in the Spring of 2005 in downtown NYC. The concept behind the line is merging the traditional ideas of classic American denim with the styling of familiar shapes. With this idea in mind, we push slightly further to create a carefully crafted and sculpted silhouette. The combination of a tailored fit, expert construction and superb wash detail highlights the curves without denying what is underneath. Individual taste and style are satisfied through the array of fine washes and silhouettes developed at America's best wash and sewing facilities, where each pair is treated as a work of art. All hold a vintage aesthetic, whether it is a clean wash of color or capturing the subtleties of authentically aged styles. Together, these elements combine to bring to life a fresh new style that can be appreciated by the most discerning collector.

The superlative, modern tailoring that goes into each pair of jeans is uncompromisingly beautiful as it is technical. The development of the line utilizes cutting edge approaches in design while increasing comfort and style. Unexpected takes on classic shapes are mixed with the demand for a truly authentic look and feel. Siwy uses only the best, high quality American denim , then cut with a fashionable edge. The aesthetic is vintage and familiar, clean and classic. The long and lean shape is softened by strategically placed, quilted pockets that lift and shape, which carefully follow the curve of all seams. A shortened back hem curve avoids dragging on the floor when worn with sneakers or heels while maintaining a very long and lean illusion for women of all sizes. Every inch of the jean is shaped and contoured from the waistband to the hem and all details in between. Whether it is the stitch thread that shows strength or the high quality of the denim that shows staying power, somehow the look is comforting and familiar, tough yet feminine all at once.

Every pair of Siwy denim is adorned with a hand-crafted label made out of vintage feedsacks. Between the 1880's through the 1940's the bags, as much as the goods they contained, became wildly advertised items. Although there is no definition for the term 'feedsack' it was an integral part of rural American life. Historically, the bags have unique patterns on them that utilize an array of colors, made from cotton or burlap woven together. Before it was ever fashionable, the sacks were recycled into garments and quilts. Siwy utilizes this same idea to create a unique labeling system that can ensure the owner that they are not only getting a piece of American history but a unique label that the owner can really feel is special because of the limited run of labels per print.

There is an element of true and authentic style in the overall sewn garment. Our purpose is to provide the wearer with the ultimate in fit quality and modernity. We pride ourselves in the success of executing the often-failed task of renewing vintage inspiration into a perfected finish, detail and fit that make for a truly unique and special garment.

Heterophobia ? addressing a controversial mannequin
Does the dominance of gay fashion designers suggest an endemic heterophobic propensity by the fashion illuminati which is manifest in its most insidious form by the pervasive tendency to corrupt the female body image by persisting with anorexic “de-feminised” models as a paradigm of perfection ultimately undermining the male/female synergy? … or perhaps the fashion [...]

Fashion personas a dated phenomenon?
Are fashion personas a dated phenomenon, Girogio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Yohji Yamamoto and so on… ?
